Open Kitchen MCR offers a range of talks, workshops, and education experiences to businesses.
As a sustainable and ethical caterer, we spend a lot of time researching and learning from our community partners about the most pressing issues right now. We’ve picked up expertise along the way on topics like food waste and how to cut it, sustainable production and packaging, and what a positive food future for Greater Manchester could look like.
We love sharing what we’ve learned. Bring your team together with a food waste cooking demo, pickling workshop, lunch and learn, or sustainability talk. Get information and practical tips without endless slideshows or lectures.
100% of our profits go back into the community, with a focus on food education in primary schools. So, your team’s workshop funds kids learning essential life skills too.

Learn How to Make Your Own Chutneys, Pickles and Preserves
From £28 per person

Learn how to make your own jar of preserves, such as kimchi, preserved lemons, sauerkraut, or berry compote. It’s a great way to reduce food waste and add a healthy accompaniment to a range of dishes.
The workshop includes all ingredients and can be combined with a light lunch or evening meal that includes food pairings.
Food Waste Reduction Demonstrations and Workshops
Demos from £250 per session; workshops from £350 per session

Learn how to use recipes as frameworks, understand the role each element plays in a dish, and adapt any recipe to use what you have, or what’s local and seasonal.
Zero-waste cooking is the backbone of our culinary practice. Our chefs have adapted and invented many recipes to get the most out of every ingredient. We can also run workshops based on your preference, including pasta from scratch, cheese-making, bread-baking, and Japanese-style dumplings.
“Open Kitchen provided a brilliant service – we were so impressed with the quality of the food, it was delicious. We hosted a ‘Lunch & Learn’ on food waste, local produce and sustainability – it was educational and engaging. It was a real success, and we are so grateful to the Open Kitchen team for all their efforts. We will be using Open Kitchen again.”
